What is it, you ask?
A wooden porch swing.
When you host guests on even a semi-regular basis, you quickly learn the importance of having plenty of places for folks to sit.
Think of it this way: if you’re throwing a barbecue, then you need to think about how people will sit down while they eat, or if they’ll even want to sit down at all.
Naturally, you don’t want to force people into uncomfortable situations simply because there aren’t enough seating options available — or because the seating options you do have aren’t suitable for sitting and simultaneous eating.
Simply put, no one wants to get folded up in a lawn chair while they’re trying to eat their hamburger.
However, a seating option that is both functional and high-quality is hard enough to come by, let alone one that also fits the aesthetic and the general vibe you’re going for.
Thankfully, searching high and low has brought you to the right place.
A wooden porch swing is a versatile option that provides functional seating for your guests, while also offering a sleek and modern design that looks great in any yard.
This means that you don’t have to worry about having enough chairs or benches for all your guests to sit on when they come over. Instead, you can simply hang a wooden porch swing and let everyone relax while they wait for food or drinks to be served.
And when everyone leaves, you can chill and unwind on the swing yourself with the soothing rocking motion that a wooden swing provides in your backyard oasis.
A porch swing makes a great seating option for guests and family members who want to enjoy the outdoors.
Moreover, investing in a wooden porch swing can help you take your summer barbecue space to a whole new level.
You can use a porch swing as an alternative to traditional chairs or benches while you entertain guests during barbecues and outdoor parties. Provide a little novelty while dressing up your outdoor space by creating an environment that sets the stage for deep conversations and a great time!
A wooden swing is a great way to bring your guests together — in every sense of the word. Your family and friends can sit side-by-side and share stories as they sway gently back and forth, sipping their drink of choice in the early evening sun.
With a wooden porch swing, you can turn a boring barbecue spot into an exciting place to gather and converse with the people you love most.
And to top things off, your guests won’t shut up about how good it looks!
A wooden porch swing doesn’t just look good; it gives character to any outdoor space — it adds a natural warmth and comfort that a metal or plastic swing may not be able to replicate.
This is essential because your yard is an extension of your home’s interior. If the inside of your house feels warm, inviting, and comfortable, then so too should the outside.
A wooden porch swing can help you achieve this goal by creating an inviting spot where you and your guests can relax and enjoy yourselves — without feeling as though you’re on display or intruding on someone else’s space.
Additionally, many porch swings are customizable, so you can modify them to fit your unique tastes and style preferences.
For example, Organic Swings let you choose from two different types of wood — light brown cypress or dark brown walnut — both of which are extremely durable and look good even with age and weathering.
Whichever way you look at it, with a wooden porch swing, you can create an outdoor sanctuary that is uniquely yours — the perfect place to retreat at the end of a long day.
Thankfully, porch swings are relatively easy to install. With the proper tools, swing hooks, and a heavy-duty chain, you can have yours up in no time.
But where should you hang it?
The most popular place to hang a porch swing is — you guessed it — your front porch!
When you hang a swing from the overhead beams of your front porch, you create a cozy place for you and your guests to congregate. This can help you make good use of a space you once relegated to storage.
The right porch swing can also add style and sophistication to any exterior space. So in addition to providing comfortable seating for you and your guests, a carefully-placed wooden porch swing can help increase curb appeal for your home — and give your neighbors something good to gossip about as they walk by!
No porch? No problem!
You can make use of that massive tree that stands sturdy in your backyard.
Instead of chains, hang your swing with heavy-duty ropes to maintain that natural outdoor aesthetic. While you’re at it, throw in some decorative pillows and a blanket or two to really cozy things up.
With a porch swing, you can make your favorite tree the focal point of your backyard.
Talk about the picture-perfect property!
If you’re looking to install a porch swing, but want the added benefit of mobility and flexibility, consider purchasing a porch swing stand!
This stand is exactly what it sounds like: a stand from which you hang your porch swing. The great thing about porch swing stands is that you can move them from place to place, so you don’t have to worry about committing your swing to one spot.
Many porch swing stands also have a built-in canopy, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right location to shade yourself from the afternoon sun.
With a porch swing stand, you can create the perfect spot yourself — anywhere on your property.
The porch swing is a classic American backyard feature — and while different porch swings are made from different materials, they all share one thing in common:
A timeless essence that feels — and looks — great in any exterior space.
You can take a little inspiration from history by adding a wooden porch swing to your own yard — and as long as you’re willing to get a little creative with it, there are virtually no limitations on where you can put your swing.
Whether you’re relaxing with friends on the weekend or enjoying a nap in the sun, you’ll find that a wooden porch swing will make your favorite outdoor spot even sweeter.

However, if you have an indoor space that could use some extra oomph, then an indoor swing might be just what you need.
Whether you’re planning to remodel your kitchen or redecorate your living room, you most likely want to add something to your space that will make it feel warm and inviting to anyone who walks in.
An indoor swing is the perfect way to do that!
Installing an indoor swing will add a cozy and comfortable element to your home, regardless of the room you decide to put it in. An indoor swing can also serve as a statement interior decorating pieces alongside the benefits of using the functionality to the swing itself.
As soon as it’s installed, you’ll find yourself gravitating towards your newest furniture item — and so will the other people in your life! An indoor swing provides a space for family and friends to come together, converse, and connect with one another.
Whether it’s to sit and read, pass some time daydreaming, or connect with your loved ones, an indoor swing enables you to relax and enjoy your space to the fullest — whatever that means to you.
Relax and unwind with the soothing motions an indoor swing provides after a long day at work.
Simply put, wherever your swing is inside of your home, your family will be there too.
When you install an indoor swing, you create a space for your family to gather and connect. As soon as everyone gets home from school, work, or errands, they know where they’re headed: straight for that wonderful place where everyone feels safe and cared for — their own special sanctuary to catch up and unwind.
Your kids will finally have an excuse to stop playing video games; you and your spouse will get some time alone without being distracted by technology; grandparents will have time to tell their grandkids about the good ol’ days…
Here, in the heart of your home, you will create meaningful moments and conversations with your loved ones as you rock gently back and forth together.
With an indoor porch swing, you can create memories in your home that you will carry for years to come.
Whether you are unwinding after a long day at work or catching up with friends, an indoor swing is an invitation — to sit, to relax, to reflect.
It’s also an invitation for curiosity — regardless of your age.
A curious toddler will watch in wonder as the swing sways back and forth, transfixed by its movement and sound. Adults, drawn to the comfort that comes with quiet moments, will sit back and enjoy the feeling of being present in the moment.
Different people are drawn to the soothing motions that a swing provides for their own reasons.
But enjoy it just the same.
When it comes to decorating — with the right accessories, even the plainest of furniture can become a sophisticated statement piece. That goes double for indoor swings.
An indoor swing is a versatile design piece that works in any room, in any style. It’s an opportunity to infuse your space with natural texture and color, and you can customize it to fit your own personal aesthetic.
You can cozy up an otherwise austere living room with blankets, and add some subtle touches of color with throw pillows and cushions. Or, if you prefer a sleek and modern look, you can keep your indoor swing looking relatively minimal.
Whether you want something minimalist or maximalist, an indoor swing adds a playful and whimsical touch to any room. So if you want something more than just another piece of furniture taking up space in your home, something that elicits feelings like relaxation at the end of a long work week, or comfort while you pour over your favorite book — an indoor swing is the way to go.
The living room is a space where you spend a lot of time relaxing, unwinding, and socializing with friends and family.
So, naturally, it’s one of the most common places to put an indoor swing. It’s inviting and adds a unique ambiance to the room whether you are hosting guests, spending time with family or listening to soothing music on your own.
In addition to decorating your home and enhancing its overall appearance, a swing in your living room allows you to sit back comfortably while enjoying some quality time with those around you.
If you’re looking for a way to create a relaxing environment in your bedroom, try using an indoor swing as part of your decor.
The gentle rocking motion will soothe you and help to lower your heart rate, putting your body in the perfect place for rest.
Additionally, if your child has trouble falling asleep, you can use an indoor swing as part of their night routine. When they come into the room every night, teeth brushed and pajamas on, you can prop them up with you on the swing and read them a bedtime story!
In no time, they’ll start to drift off into dreamland as you gently rock back and forth — and all you’ll have to do is scoop them up and tuck them into bed.
Your dining room is another great place to add a beautiful, inviting indoor swing.
The dining room should be a place where you can relax and enjoy meals with your friends and family. You can make it your own by replacing conventional dining room seating with an indoor swing!
Sitting on an indoor swing in the middle of your opulent dining area will give the ambiance of relaxed elegance that makes for good conversation.
Whether you want to get cozy with someone special or invite guests into your home for dinner parties, installing an indoor swing can help make sure every occasion is even more memorable than before!
You don’t need a big backyard or a beautiful front porch to enjoy the benefits of an indoor swing.
All you have to do is find one that fits well with your personal style and needs — and then the comfort and relaxation is yours for the taking.

]]>Chances are you have put a LOT of work into your Airbnb rental. You’ve probably spent hours decorating the interior of the home, investing extra money on comfort items such as throw pillows, blankets, and adding every kitchen and bathroom item you anticipate a guest may need during their stay. A porch swing also lets guests see that you have taken extra steps to ensure their stay is everything they need it to be. One added bonus of a porch swing is the seats of The Organic Swing are interchangeable, so you can transform the swing to a shared-seating arrangement for face-to-face conversations depending on how many guests you are expecting. ]]>Have you ever seen a wooden swing on a neighbor’s porch or in movies? You might have not known it at the time, but the style typically comes from what is known as a classic Indian Swing. Also called a Jhula swing (or Jhoola), Indian Swings are designs from India that are made from wood and were historically used in gardens or in central living areas as day beds. In fact, Jhoola in Hindi means swing.
For decades, Americans have enjoyed using various styles of these wooden swings on their front porch. But today, there are modern designs to the Indian Swings that can still be used for relaxing with friends and family, with more versatility than ever.
The simple, clean design options for today’s modern Indian Swings are endless.
The Indian Swing can be used inside your home to provide a further cozy aesthetic to the interior. Or it can be used outside your home similar to a traditional swing. Both installations are very straightforward and come with detailed instructions.
The seatbacks of the modern Indian Swing can be easily adjusted, enabling you to change the style of the swing as you see fit. Enjoy the swing in the morning with a cup of coffee by yourself, or sit with two other people in the afternoon having tea.
Choose between dark walnut or natural cypress wood depending on which best suits your style. Walnut and cypress woods are some of the most durable wood options on the market for furniture, so you’ll be able to enjoy your swing for years to come.
Some Indian Swings will be listed at incredibly steep prices, but you can actually purchase a modern alternative to the traditional Indian Swing for less than $2,000. Before purchasing your new swing, make sure it comes with a Lifetime Warranty and 60-day Money Back Guarantee.

In October, SwingLab was honored to be invited to show our modular swing to an audience of radical doer, makers, and creators at this year's The Feast. Two swings composed the center of the SAP sponsored relaxation lounge. Conference goers and speakers alike found time to chill and network while enjoying SwingLab.

The annual conference takes place October 16-19. We look forward to being part of the conversation!
]]>Starting this fall, every SwingLab modular swing will feature a frame of natural brushed aluminum instead of painted steel. We think that's worth getting excited about, for a lot of reasons.
First, it enhances the life and quality of our modern swing design. Since Aluminum never rusts, your modular swing frame will retain its distinctive finish throughout its life, without the slightest amount of maintenance, no matter where you decide to hang it. Indoors or outdoors.
Second, it's much lighter. Aluminum provides a similar level of strength as steel does, at only a third of the weight, which makes our swing much easier for you to hang and handle.
Finally, it's just plain beautiful. We love how the lighter, brighter frame sets off the warm honey finish of the cypress wood.
"It really adds to the modern aesthetic," said SwingLab designer Andy Hilton, who has been planning this change for some time. "Natural brushed aluminum upholds the SwingLab value of 'truth in materials' because it is inherently sleek and maintenance-free. We don't have to alter its character in any way to get the look or the finish we want," said Andy.
